Thank You for Depth and Value on my Eyeland
I have one good eye, the other one — not so much.
This fools my depth perception into believing I have arrived when I’m actually almost there.
Depth perception can be a tricky thing.
When we see the world in two dimensions we can miss out on a lot of good metaphors.
As an artist, (yep, an artist with just one good eye) I will add dimension to a painting by creating Value — adding light and dark.
As a human being, I look at the people and objects around me, accepting the light and dark with the understanding that everything has Value.
My limited perception does not limit my vision to surface observations.
I like to peek beneath the veneer of a situation or a person to discover their value.
Not everyone is what they appear to be.
Not everything is what it looks like.
When I don’t look for depth, the world is interpreted with limited value.
Objects on my Eyeland are larger than they appear.

I wish I have good eyes. 🙂
Another truly perceptive perspective piece. You seem to see many things that others miss and find interesting ways to explain them so the rest of us can understand.
I appreciate being able to see things through your eyes whether they both work well or not.
(Off the top it reminded me of the first time I went to go down stairs after I got a pair of bifocals – scary and unsettling.)
