Thank You for the Absence of Fire

3:18 am.
16 degrees F.
Fire alarm blaring.
Moms with their babies, a man without his wheelchair, and others, huddled outside away from the building.
Five firemen, loud sirens, and wide eyes.
I cannot get back to sleep.
Curse the imbecile who pulled the alarm and thinks the above scene is a practical joke.
But thank you for the absence of fire.
