Thank You for The Grapes of Wrath 1929-2009
80 years later…
The present day sharecroppers own shares in the financial industry, not the agricultural industry. These shares are our retirement pensions, our savings accounts, our homes…
There is no Dust Bowl to send us from the farms of Oklahoma to the greener pastures of California but California is already full of share holders anyway so they are in the same boat…
There are no labor rights for those with dreams of financial survival.
The Taft-Hartley Act now applies to the laborers who harvest credit, sole proprietors, small business loans, and the meager monetary fruit of our labor. No amount of picketing will help. All shops are closed shops.
Jim Casey has lost his faith and the Joads are gonna live in a tent.
Do we have our camping gear together?
It’s probably a good thing we are already familiar with the concept of tent cities (Thanks to Ronald Reagan). The new dust bowl is blowin’ through and somebody’s gonna get dirty.
Thank you for John Steinbeck.
He has inspired my little pea pickin’ heart.
