Thank You for Sunday drives on a Friday
Do you ever get in your car and just go nowhere?
Yesterday I started out running a few errands and ended up in the countryside staring at cows and fields and old farm houses.
I traveled down roads that I rarely travel.
I listened to Creedence Clearwater Revival and sang at the top of my lungs.
Then, turning off the music to randomly pull over in silence and wonder who lived in these places which I would never enter, on the outskirts of civilization, I daydreamed about fictional lives of people I would never meet.
It was a beautiful day.
Sometimes I get stuck within the perimeter of my limited field of vision.
Yesterday I expanded the perimeter to view the world in a wide open space.
It was worth the gas and time (which I am usually frugal with) to explore the things I forget to explore.
With the price of gas, few people go on Sunday drives anymore, but I think this activity is very good for us once in a while.
I think maybe we should save up a few hundred bucks for gas and go on a day trip to the places we forget about and daydream about the people we forget to meet, including ourselves…
