Thank You For The Good Visitor
My friend Jack has no legs. He is dependent on his wheelchair and his delightful sense of humor.
Jack has many visitors who adore him as he is one of the most appreciative and generous people I know.
Jack helps a lot of street people and young people that seek his counsel.
Yesterday I went to his home and helped him put together some book cases to organize his environment in a way that is conducive to someone in a wheelchair.
There are so many things we take for granted when we have the luxury of being able to stand up or the ability to reach down and pick something up off the floor when ever we want to.
Some of Jack’s visitors are young and some of them are preoccupied with things that do not afford them capacity to be aware of Jack’s needs.
Jack is not one to ask for much or complain about anyone else’s habits while they visit him.
I made a little poster for his house:
Wow. Seems like you might be THE good visitor. Now, I’ll try to be. Have a nice day.
I love the poster idea! And what an AWESOME person to be so welcoming!!!
wow..i think we need this at home..a more subtle way to remind the visitors.ü
